Dev buy and locks

Buy your own coin first in the launch itself, how the team cap works on EVM, how to lock your dev buy at launch, and how anyone can lock tokens on-chain with a public proof page.

Updated November 3, 2026

A dev buy is the creator buying their own coin as part of the launch, before any bot or trader can get in. A lock puts tokens somewhere nobody can touch them until a date you pick, not even you or Manna. Together they let you hold a stake in your coin and prove to your community that you won't dump it. This page covers both, plus the general token lock anyone can use on a coin's page.

The dev buy#

How it works#

  • Your first buy is made together with the launch: on Solana in the same transaction that creates the pool, on EVM inside the launch transaction. Nobody can trade before it.
  • It skips the sniper shield, so you pay the normal fee and get the launch price.
  • You pay in the pair asset: SOL for a SOL pair, USDC for a USDC pair, and so on. For a token pair on EVM, your wallet first asks you to approve that token.
  • The launch form shows "You get about" (tokens) and "Share of supply" before you launch.

It's optional. "Leave empty for no dev buy." With no dev buy the form says "No dev buy. Totally fair launch."

How much you get#

The bigger the buy, the higher it pushes the price, so each extra unit buys a little less. With default settings on Solana (35 SOL start market cap, Normal curve, 2% fee), 1 SOL buys about 2.73% of the supply. The form calculates it for your exact settings.

The team cap on EVM chains#

On Robinhood Chain and the other EVM chains your dev buy counts toward the team cap: the share of supply your team can buy tax-free during launch. It's 1% to 20%, default 5%, set in the Sniper shield section.

  • If your dev buy would go over it, the form shows "Over your team cap of 5%. Lower the amount or raise the cap below." (with your cap) and you can't launch until you fix it.
  • On the Manna curve, the factory contract also enforces it: buys by you and your team wallets in the launch block and during the shield are counted, and one that takes the team over the cap fails.

There's no team cap on Solana. More in Sniper shield.

Extra Solana cost#

A Solana dev buy needs its amount in your wallet plus about 0.001 SOL on top of the usual launch costs. See What it costs.

Locking your dev buy at launch#

In the Dev buy section of Customize everything, switch on Lock my dev buy (it turns on once you've entered an amount). "Builds trust." There are two kinds of lock, and the form picks the right one for your coin.

30-day lock inside the launch (EVM)#

On Robinhood Chain coins with trading rules, and on every coin on Base, BNB Chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon and Avalanche, the lock is built into the launch itself: "Locked for 30 days inside the launch itself."

  • The factory keeps your dev-buy coins for exactly 30 days. They never reach your wallet before then.
  • After 30 days, open your Rewards page (/me). The card "Locked dev buy · $TICKER" shows the amount and unlock date. Tap Unlock and the coins are sent to the wallet that launched the coin.
  • There's no extra fee for this lock.

Separate lock (Solana and Robinhood without rules)#

Everywhere else: "Locked on-chain until the date you pick. Nobody can unlock it early, not even you." Pick 1 week, 1 month (default), 3 months, 6 months or 1 year.

  1. 1The coin launches with your dev buy as usual.
  2. 2Right after, Manna moves your whole balance of the new coin into an on-chain lock (Jupiter Lock on Solana, MannaLocker on Robinhood Chain). Your wallet asks you to sign it.
  3. 3You get a notice "Dev buy locked for 1 month" with a link to the lock's public proof page.

This lock costs the normal lock fee (see Lock fees). If it doesn't go through, your coin is still live: you'll see "Your coin is live, but the dev lock didn't go through" and can lock from your coin's page.

Locking any amount of tokens#

Every Solana and Robinhood Chain coin page has a Locked card. Coins on Base, BNB Chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon and Avalanche don't: there is no lock contract on those chains yet, so the only lock there is the 30-day dev-buy lock above. It shows how much of the supply is locked, the next unlock, and every lock with its owner. Anyone holding the coin can tap Lock tokens.

  1. 1Enter an Amount, or tap 25%, 50%, 75% or Max.
  2. 2Pick Lock for: 1 week, 1 month (default), 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, or a date (from tomorrow).
  3. 3Pick All at once ("Everything unlocks on the date") or Gradually ("Releases daily until the date").
  4. 4Check the fee line and the summary: "Your tokens stay locked until [date]. Nobody can unlock them early, not you and not Manna."
  5. 5Tap Lock $TICKER and sign.

Then share it: the success screen offers Share on 𝕏, Copy link and Open proof.

Where the tokens go#

ChainLock programNotes
SolanaJupiter Lock, Jupiter's lock programNobody can cancel a lock. Manna never holds the tokens.
Robinhood ChainMannaLockerManna's own lock contract.

Locks live on-chain. "Nobody can open them early, not even Manna."

All at once vs gradually#

  • All at once: everything unlocks on the date. Before that, nothing can be withdrawn.
  • Gradually: the tokens release in equal steps from now until the date. On Solana each step is a day, or an hour for locks shorter than 2 days.

When tokens unlock, the lock owner sees a Withdraw button in the lock's row on the coin page.

Lock fees#

SolanaRobinhood Chain
Flat fee0.16 SOL per lockA small ETH fee, read live from the contract and shown before you confirm
Token fee, all at once0.5% of the tokensRead live from the contract and shown before you confirm
Token fee, gradual0.19% of the tokensRead live from the contract and shown before you confirm

The token fee comes out of the amount you lock. Example on Solana: you lock 10,000,000 tokens all at once. The token fee is 50,000 tokens, so 9,950,000 are locked, and you pay 0.16 SOL plus network costs. Your wallet needs about 0.166 SOL in total; if it doesn't, the button reads "Needs 0.166 SOL, you have …".

Coins that can't be locked#

Coins with trading rules can't be locked, on either chain. Their rules check every transfer, so moving tokens in and out of a lock isn't safe. On Robinhood the Lock tokens button is disabled with an explanation; on Solana you'll see "This coin has trading rules built in, so it can't be locked". This is also why Robinhood coins with rules use the 30-day in-launch lock for dev buys.

Lock proof pages#

Every lock has a public page at /lock/<chain>/<id>: /lock/sol/<lock address> on Solana, /lock/hood/<lock number> on Robinhood Chain. It's read live from the chain, never from what the locker typed, and shows:

  • The token, its picture and a link to it
  • How many tokens are still locked, as a share of supply, and their value in dollars when there's a price
  • When they unlock, or the release schedule
  • Who owns the lock
  • Where it lives ("Jupiter Lock program on Solana" or "MannaLocker on Robinhood Chain, lock #12") with a link to check it on the block explorer

Share the link on X so anyone can verify your lock themselves. Proof pages work for any token locked through Manna, not only Manna coins.
